I am not a historian.  But there’s something about the past that’s always fascinated me—different civilisations, rulers and the wars they fought, particularly the ones that changed the course of history—never fail to amaze me. I’ve been influenced by their art, culture and music too. Having been a travel photography mentor and leading my teams to the land of the Rajputs and the Mughals, I’ve enriched my mind with their own signature touches that probably have been instrumental in engraving a deep sense of fashion in me.

Now when I imagine Indian bridal fashion, I visualize tradition, emperors, queens, palaces and their livelihoods. Therefore, when I capture any wedding and pre-wedding project, my efforts have always been to preserve the royal richness and flavour of the Indian tradition, while of course, keeping the local expectations of the shoot in mind.

Similarly, my outlook towards western bridal wear has developed largely from a blend of American classic movies and fairy tales—particularly the ones, where the fairies would be dressed in their white long gowns… they’d fill up this world with eternal happiness with their magic wands!

My initial career as a painter has however pushed me into creative shooting approaches. For e.g., there are some photographs on this website, which I’ve shot with an ordinary projector light by exposing an architectural photograph on my models with an intention to create an innovative style. I hope you appreciate them.

My shooting approach usually involves a much longer prep time. I recce the shoot location and then analyse possible concepts. I study various lighting options (including artificial lights and studio strobes), and then arrive at a meticulous project plan before the final execution. My plan also includes a style chart, wherein I try to explain the kind of expected (suggested) output for my clients to approve.

I welcome you all to experience www.silhouettesinstyle.com—a site dedicated to bridal, mainstream fashion and creative fashion photography. In case you need any clarification, please do get in touch with me.

I promise to get back to you at the earliest.
